Replace or Upgrade an Existing Computer
If your computer has serious performance problems or errors that cannot be resolved at reasonable cost, IT will work with you to get a replacement if necessary.
If you feel that you need more computing power and/or new features before the normal end of life of your computer, this will need to be approved by your department head or dean. IT will work with you to determine the right way to meet your needs and will discuss the cost with you and your department head or dean.
All computer replacement and upgrade requests should be made through the Help Desk by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Get a New Computer for a New Employee
If you need to get a computer for a new staff member, at the time you get approval to hire someone immediately notify IT via the Help Desk. IT will coordinate with you to acquire and deploy the needed computer in time for the employee’s arrival. However, be sure you have first determined that there is not a computer available left by the new employee’s predecessor or other unused computers in your areas. Any of these should be returned to IT so they can be verified as fully up-to-date and ready for redeployment to your new employee.
If you need to get a computer for a new faculty member, follow the normal process for approval and hiring coordinated by the Assistant to the Vice President of Academic Affairs. The Assistant will coordinate with IT to assure computers are acquired for all new faculty.
