Student Computing

ResNet enables Austin College students to access a universe of academic and information resources directly from their residence hall rooms. Any Austin College student living in a campus residence hall who owns a computer has in-room access to ResNet services. There is a high-speed ethernet network data port available for each room occupant. You will need an ethernet cable to connect your computer to the network. Student Computing provides cables for freshmen if they need one. Wireless network connectivity is also available in all the residence halls. In order to connect to the wireless network, student computers will need to be able to connect to the wireless standards 802.11a or 802.11g.

In order to connect to ResNet, either wired or wirelessly, a student must register his computer. Registration is accessed through the use of an Internet browser. To successfully register, a student’s computer must have a current anti-virus subscription, current anti-spyware software, and current operating system updates. Austin College provides Kaspersky anti-virus software for free to students.
